The Importance of Upgrades in World of Warcraft
Upgrades are new items that increase your stats. You can upgrade armor, weapons and trinkets with these.
To determine probabilities, item upgrades are based on "upgrade pity". This system is designed to limit the extremes of luck and provide an adequate safety net when upgrading.
Armor
The item upgrader lets players upgrade the equipment level of their trinkets, armor and weapons. The upgrades are applied to the gear by visiting an item upgrader NPC with appropriate currencies. The attributes of an item are also upgraded when upgrading it.

Note: The equipment you use to apply an upgrade is consumed for life. You are not able to apply multiple upgrades to one piece. If you attempt to do this the previous upgrade will be replaced.
Upgrade your equipment to increase the damage, your survivability and overall power. For instance, if have new Benthic gear from the War Within Mythic Dungeon, it will be level 385 by default, and can be upgraded to a higher level by using [Prismatic Manapearls]. Upgrades to your PvE gear are account-wide, while upgrades for your PvP gear require a specific currency, like [Valorstones] or [Harbinger Crestsor [Harbinger Crests]. The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade additional pieces of gear in a particular armor slot is reduced after the first upgrade of the gear.
Weapons
Weapons are a key component of any successful character, no matter if they're employed to deter an intruder, kill an intruder, win an shooting contest, or simply hung on the wall. You can upgrade weapons by visiting a blacksmith that has a Weapon workbench. Upgrades will not only increase the item level but also provide additional stats that can be used to boost its effectiveness. Certain upgrades will be passive while others can provide increased damage, faster attacks, improved range, or critical strike chances.
Ashes of War weapons are rewarded when certain bosses in raids are defeated. Other upgrades can be applied to weapons with Whetblades, which are rare items that allow you to unlock new Affinities to infuse the weapon with.
Once a weapon is fully upgraded, the player is able to continue to upgrade it as long as he/she has the appropriate upgrade materials and currency. It is important to remember that weapons can only be upgraded to a maximum of 25. This means that players should only upgrade their weapons after they've accumulated the maximum amount of upgrades from regular and Whetblade items.
Trinkets
Trinkets are special items that offer a variety of Boosts. They can be upgraded like other equipment, by interacting directly with the Item Upgrader.
You can find an upgrader in the town of Stardew Valley. To access it, you must remove any weapons or armor. Once you have done that then, the NPC will appear with the red "Equipped" banner over his head.
